Windsurfing courses

At Rye Watersports we offer Royal Yachting Association Windsurfing Courses and private lessons for adults and children on our coastal lake near Camber Sands, East Sussex in the South East of England. Here on the edge of the Sussex coast, London seems a million miles away!

Windsurfing lessons are taught on safe flat water that is ideal for anyone new to windsurfing. The South Coast offers varied conditions, but our coastal lake is perfect for lessons/beginners and experts alike. The lakes close proximity to the sea at Camber Sands means we get consistent force 4 sea breezes throughout the Summer months, and stronger winds during Spring and Autumn.

Rye town, only a ten minute walk away, has cobbled streets, art galleries and antique shops. A perfect place to while away a few hours, or stay overnight to make a week-end of it. Camber Sands with its golden beaches is a great favourite with children of any age. This beautiful lake location is only one hour from South London, and a fifty minute drive from Tunbridge Wells, Kent, so if you live in, Surrey, Sussex or Kent your windsurfing lesson is an easy drive away.

RYA Start Windsurfing – Level 1 – 2 days £225

A fantastic introduction to this exciting sport. 2 days, learning to turn around and safely come back to shore.

RYA Intermediate Windsurf Course – Level 2 – 2 days £225

Introduction to sailing in stronger winds with performance equipment. Plus introduction to beach starting and gybing.

Use the latest wide style shortboards and high-performance sails to introduce you to the foot-straps, stronger winds, and the carve gybe.

Rental Equipment Available

At Rye Watersports we hire out equipment on an hourly basis. We have an excellent range of Fanatic windsurf boards and Duotone rigs suitable for beginners through to more advanced windsurfers. All our sails are rigged for you so it couldn’t be easier to get out on the water. Hiring our selection of kit means you can try out different sail sizes and boards. So when you do get round to buying, you know exactly what to get.
