Description:

The RYA Dinghy Pre-Assessment will give you the opportunity to demonstrate you are a competent sailor and are ready for the RYA dinghy instructor qualification. 

This is a 1 day assessment of your skills which will test all items in the syllabus below.

Syllabus:

  • You must demonstrate the 5 Essentials at all times
  • Sailing around a triangle course
  • Sailing a tight circle
  • Sailing a follow the leader (showing the ability to slow down and speed up on all points of sailing)
  • Picking up a man overboard
  • Rudderless sailing
  • Lee shore landings and departure
  • Picking up a mooring buoy and anchoring
  • Coming along side a moored boat
  • Capsize recovery

Pre Requisites:

  • You must be a competent sailor able to demonstrate the syllabus above.
