Wingfoil Courses

What is it and how do I get started?

Wingfoiling (and the entry sport Wingsurfing) are the new latest sports to spread across the globe!

‘Winging’ uses an inflatable strut or boom to give you the power to move across the water. The hydrofoil under the board then lifts you onto the surface of the water, so you experience the sensation of literally flying! Unlike windsurfing, the wing isn’t attached to the board, as it is superlight, and is flown by your own hands!

Wingfoiling lessons are taught on safe flat water that is ideal for anyone new to wingsurfing. We are one of the only centres offering wingfoil courses on flat inland water in the South East. Our coastal lake is perfect for lessons/beginners and experts alike. The lake’s close proximity to the sea at Camber Sands means we get consistent force 4 sea breezes throughout the Summer months, and stronger winds during Spring and Autumn.

Rye town, only a ten minute walk away, has cobbled streets, art galleries and antique shops. A perfect place to while away a few hours, or stay overnight to make a week-end of it. Camber Sands with its golden beaches is a great favourite with children of any age. This beautiful lake location is only one hour from South London, and a fifty minute drive from Tunbridge Wells, Kent, so if you live in, Surrey, Sussex or Kent your wingfoil lesson is an easy drive away.

Before You Get on the Foil

We love that so many of our clients arrive excited to jump straight on the foil—especially those with backgrounds in kitesurfing, windsurfing, or surfing. But it’s important to understand that:

Foiling is a high-performance sport with unique balance, wind, and board-handling demands. It cannot—and should not—be attempted without proper preparation.

For your safety and success, all riders must build core skills through wingsurfing first. This step isn’t a barrier—it’s a crucial foundation to help you progress confidently and safely toward flying.

About Wind Conditions

Foiling is wind-dependent. You’ll need a minimum of 11 knots of wind to help you lift and fly.

  • We confirm ‘First flights’ foil sessions and private advanced tuition prior to the session.
  • If the wind during the session isn’t suitable, we will focus on essential wingsurf skills, and rebook in necessary.
  • We’ll keep you informed and do everything we can to give you a great experience—whatever the conditions.

We’re here to support your journey at every stage, and help you progress toward foiling safely, confidently—and with a big smile.
