Kids Wingfoiling near Rye East Sussex

Rye Watersports has been a Royal Yachting Association centre since 1986. This year for the first time we are offering wingfoil lessons to children from the age of 12. We are based on the Kent and Sussex border near Camber Sands. which is only a 50 minute drive from Tunbridge Wells, and easy to get to by road or rail from all areas of Kent, Sussex and Surrey.
Our safe flat water lake is perfect for children to learn to wingfoil as they feel safe within a confined water area rather than the open sea. All lessons are run over two consecutive days from 10.00a.m to 4.00p.m, (12 hours).

Once children have completed their RYA Stages 1 & 2 they can progress onto learning how to get up on the foil with our private sessions. We also have hire equipment and very reasonable WingFoil packages available so don’t hesitate to ask the office for more details.

Wingfoil lessons are taught on safe flat water that is ideal for anyone new to wing sports. The South Coast offers varied conditions, but our coastal lake is perfect for lessons/beginners and experts alike. The lakes close proximity to the sea at Camber Sands means we get consistent force 4 sea breezes throughout the Summer months, and stronger winds during Spring and Autumn.

Start WingFoiling

RYA Beginner Learn to Wingsurf (3 hours) – £99 For Kids 12+

The first course in the RYA Wing scheme, providing a basic introduction to winging. It sets the foundations of learning to fly the wing ashore and afloat.

This course is split into two parts; flying the wing ashore, and getting afloat. Together these sessions provide the fundamentals of wing control, translating its power into forward momentum and steering, whilst reinforcing the core skills of board balance to enable you to travel across the wind a short distance, gybe and return to your starting point.

Having achieved these skills ashore, you will progress to using a board such as a windsurfer (with centreboard) or WindSUP.  You will be able to launch and land safely, sailing across the wind, steering towards and away from the wind, and carrying out a basic gybe.
