T15 South East Interclub Race series 2012

T15 South East Interclub Race series 2012 at Rye Watersports More than 40 youth windsurfers came to our T15 Race day on the 23rd June. A southwesterly force 4 meant conditions were perfect for the start and our ‘Rye Rebels’ team produced a really strong showing in the three morning races. In the 3.5 category, Will Marsh, Lottie Burden and Bob Cooke all grabbed race wins along with top three places in the other races, while in the 4.5 category Gwen Ludlow finished strongly in all three races to occupy third place at the break. In the 5.8 category, Elliott Peck and Ollie Bull were second overall. After lunch the wind picked up to a testing force 5-6 playing right into the Rebels’ hands with the likes of Ed Marsh, Suzy Pozniak, Maisy Bull and current series leader Jack Stanard all placing well. Unfortunately Peck missed out on a podium finish after being disqualified for inadvertently missing a buoy. The Rebels ended the day with Will Marsh grabbing his second successive second place and, on her racing debut, Burden claiming third overall. Cooke finished fourth and Ed Marsh came fifth. Stanard received the merit award for outstanding effort and Ludlow powered her way to a superb third overall. The team’s next race is at Hythe Sailing Club on Saturday July 21st.
