Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Merry Christmas from RWS

Merry Christmas and a windy New Year to all our wonderful customers!

Now that the last weekend of RWS being open in 2022 is upon us we thought this would be a good time to reflect on last year and all the new and fun activities that took place at the lake.  It was a scorching summer and a really mild autumn so we had a super long season.  As we moved towards winter we desperately needed rain and it poured pretty much daily for the entire month of November so the water levels have been nicely topped up… although they are fairly frozen as I write this!

So who is up for being first out on the water in 2023 … WE ARE OPEN from 4th January… FREE DAY TICKET for the first one out!

Here follow our best bits of 2022

WingFoiling

Winging was all new in 2022 and we have loved teaching this exciting new sport to so many of you.  It has been brilliant to see all the wingers out on the lake taking advantage of our perfect flat water conditions to learn and improve their skills.

RWS Instructors
Instructor Training has to be up there with our high points of the last year.  We’ve run our first instructor training courses at the lake for windsurfing, sailing, and winging.  This has been brilliant to see assistant instructors who’ve worked down here pushing their skill levels to get qualified and learn how to teach, as well as current instructors getting intermediate and advanced qualifications under their belt.

If you want to get qualified in 2023 take a look at the instructor courses we have running.
Wild Swimming
Wild Swimming finally started for us in July after our water quality testing finally came back from the environment agency with the superb result of ‘Excellent Quality’ which was great.  We registered 40 swimmers for one of our July evening swims… pretty amazing!

Next years days and dates haven’t been confirmed yet but we will be releasing news in Jan 2023 for more planned sessions.

Kids Water sport Race Day
Race Days & Racing Coaching … this summer’s race day was great fun for our Rye Rebels learning some new skills and doing brilliantly in various races having had very little experience competitively racing.

Once we went into Autumn we had our super dinghy sailing instructor Ella head up our race training on weekends right up until November when daylight hours called a halt on our 2 – 4 pm sessions.  Skills and progression gained by these groups of sailors were impressive… not to mention full respect for their hardy attitudes in chilly temperatures!

More race training sessions and clubs will be scheduled in the new year.

Vouchers are still available to buy online, so if you’re still looking for that perfect something… why not gift an experience to remember.
